Fire Protection Director – UAE

ABOUT THE JOB
 
We are urgently looking for an experienced Fire Protection Director for our Client in UAE. This position is direct hire, unlimited contract, 4 working days, 3 days off (40+ working hours per week), and all benefits provided (food, accommodation, transportation, laundry, cleaning, insurance, paid leave etc).
 
Salary ranges between AED 85k - 100k per month (23k – 27k USD/ month).

JOB PURPOSE

 
Direct the On-Site Fire Brigade (OSFB) and the supporting FP program for our Client in UAE. Serve as the single point of contact for FP for onsite and offsite Interfaces. Define and direct overall fire-fighting strategy and the equipment needs and engineering duties required to implement those directives.
 
KEY ACTIVITIES, RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
 
Activity - FP Program Governance and Oversight
Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
  • Provide governance, technical oversight, and engineering expense to develop, manage, and implement key activities associated with the FP Program to ensure high operational excellence.
Activities include:
  • Oversee and review FP P6 Schedule to ensure integration with maintenance needs;
  • Validate FP System Design Basis is maintained;
  • Review program standards when needed that comply with the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), or Abu Dhabi Occupational Safety and Health (OSHAD) regulations and guidelines;
  • Coordinate peer group meetings between FP and other internal stakeholder groups, including operations and maintenance.
  • Prepare for external evaluations from regulatory bodies, including International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and FANR;
  • Review policies and functional area key predominance indicators (KPls);
  • Review best practices and methods and identify arias for improvement;
  • Review the FP Program Health Report. Review the FP Transition Plan.
 
Activity: Fire Brigade Governance and Oversight
Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
  • Govern the Fire Brigade objectives and work plans and training to enable teams and individuals to proactively further Nuclear Safety Culture;
  • Monitor performance issues with teams and crew members and provide feedback to complete development.

Activity: Risk-Informed FP Applications
Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
  • Review input from the Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) department to understand FP-related PRA insights Implement risk-informed FP applications, and support risk-informed management decisions;
  • Validate that the FP design basis as informed by PRA is met to conform to regulatory requirements;
  • Validate Fire Safe Shutdown Analysis (FSSA) to ensure safe shutdown capability is maintained and not impacted by design modifications.
 
Activity: Corporate Strategy & Operational Planning
Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
  • Develop and execute the Division’s annual Business Plan to ensure alignment with the Business Unit’s strategic and financial priorities and corporate goals;
  • Recommend an optimum organisation structure, manpower plan and budget for the Division and monitor them on a regular basis to ensure efficient and effective utilisation of resources;
  • Contribute ideas which support an efficient and elective structure and resource allocation for the Division, to ensure smooth workflow of operational processes and optimal utilisation of resources;
  • Provide input into the development of the Business Unit's policies and develop the Division's systems, processes and procedures, identifying potential areas of improvement to ensure efficient, effective, safe and risk-free operations as well as compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements;
  • Monitor, control and report operational and financial Key Performance Indicators (KPls) related to the Division, to track performance and recommend corrective or mitigating actions;
  • Ensure that all relative reports are prepared timely and accurately, and meet the Division's requirements, policies and standards.
 
Activity: Health and Safety and Security
Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
  • Ensure compliance to all relevant health, safety and environmental management policies, procedures and controls across the Division/ Department/ Section by the delivery of the Health and Safety Management Program to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high-quality services and a responsible environmental attitude;
  • Follow all relevant Security policies, processes, procedures and instructions to ensure security compliance in all aspects of work, by applying them on self, others and Corporate assets;
  • Ensure compliance with corporate requirements for adherence to policies, procedures and instructions related to Crisis Management and Business Continuity in order to continue mission-critical activities.
 
Activity: People Management
Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
  • Manage the elective achievement of the Organization's objectives by setting individual targets, developing and motivating staff, and providing formal and informal constructive feedback and appraisal - to maximise subordinate and department performance;
  • Contribute to the development of UAE National employees in a manner which supports the objectives of the corporation and its Emiratization strategy;
  • Contribute to knowledge dissemination/ sharing in a way that assists with building internal capabilities of UAE Nationals where applicable and maximise their elective performance.

REQUIREMENTS
 
Academic qualification and experience:
  • Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Fire Protection Engineering;
  • Preferred: Master's Degree in Fire Protection Engineering or Business Administration;
  • Minimum: 12 years of relevant experience, out of which 4 (four) years in a managerial role;
  • Preferred: FP project management and training experience.
 
Language Proficiency:
  • English.

Professional Certification:
  • NFPA Professional Certification.
