MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
To be responsible for meeting budgeted revenue and profit targets;
To manage and develop strategies to promote Company Operations Division into a world class provider of Engineering, procurement and construction activities.
JOB OBJECTIVES
To produce a definitive departmental business plan in conjunction with Business Development Personnel to ensure Company strategic objectives are met;
To develop a combined strategy between Operations and Tendering ensuring submitted bids are commensurate with local market conditions, incorporate an appropriate degree of expertise and preclude the company from financial risk;
To source graduate Engineers to progressively develop for back up and senior staff positions and evaluate incumbent staff for ongoing development, reallocation and or replacement;
To initiate evaluation and training programs for all personnel in order to meet Company business objectives and broaden individual and company skills base for succession planning and career development;
To encourage and promote effective two way communication at all levels to ensure all personnel are aware of departmental and Company objectives and possible constraints;
To form close working alliances with all support departments and supply advance information on all forthcoming projected and identified resource requirements;
To constantly evaluate the balance between sub contracted activities and in house performance against the creation of new divisions within the department to more efficiently and cost effectively perform the projects at hand;
To monitor and control the budget and budget-awareness within the department to ensure objectives are met within agreed limits;
To maintain awareness of new technologies and products that will increase the efficiency of the department and continuously devise and improve methods to stay ahead of the competition;
To develop a professional and open relationships with clients whilst ensuring the interests of the Company are protected and to actively pursue the broadening of Company client base.

EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Essential:
Knowledge of Project Management;
Knowledge of Tendering;
Knowledge of Project Controls;
Planning Skills;
Knowledge of Procurement;
Safety Rules and Regulations;
18 or more years of work experience as an Engineer with experience in Project Management, Procurement, Tendering, Project Controls, Safety, Planning, etc.
Desirable:
A Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering.
